PROVIDENCE - Adam Schwartz was the lone victor for Penn on Friday, winning in straight sets at No. 3 singles over Nathaniel Gorham, 6-2, 6-4. Brown won the remaining five singles matches after sweeping the doubles contests for a 6-1 win in Providence.
With the loss, the Quakers Ivy record drops to 0-2. The Quakers are 9-8 overall.
Depite the final score, Penn was in the match throughout. Jason Lin had a lead after one set at No. 5 singles. Hicham Laalej and Phil Law rallied after dropping the first set of their matches to tie after the second before losing the third set to drop the match.
Penn is back in action on Saturday at Yale at 2 p.m.
