Irvine, Calif. - The No. 73 University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team fell to UC Irvine, 5-2, on Friday at the Anteater Tennis Stadium.
The Quakers opened the match bywinnng two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. Tas Tobias and Anthony Pu fell, 8-6, in the No. 1 spot. Mikhail Bekker and David Lynn won, 9-7, in the second slot and Todd Lecher and Brandon O'Gara won at No. 3, 8-6, to clinch the point for the Red and Blue.
In singles, Bekker fell, 6-1, 6-1, to Brian Morton in the No. 1 position. In the second slot, Lynn fell to Rye Kashiwabara, 6-0, 6-2, Tobias fell to Victor Lamm, 6-2, 6-1 in the third position. Lecher earned the Quakers only singles win with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, win over Peter Surapol at the fourth position. Craig Rubin fell to Mustafa Ulukan, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, in the fifth slot and Jimmy Fairbanks fell to Olof Sjolund, 7-6(6), 6-2, at No. 6.
The Quakers are next in action on Wednesday, March 23 when they host Navy in the Levy Tennis Pavilion at 2 p.m.
