Men's Tennis Garners ITA Academic Honors

PHILADELPHIA - The season has been over for a few months, but awards continue to roll in for the Penn men’s tennis program.

As a team, Penn was named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All Academic Team. This award goes to NCAA Division I programs that achieve a team GPA above 3.2 for the academic year.

In addition, three players were named ITA Scholar Athletes -- Jonathan Boym, Justen Roth and Zach Gorn. This award goes to Division I student-athletes who achieve a GPA of 3.5 or above for the academic year.

"We are very proud to have made the ITA All Academic Team,” said head coach Nik DeVore, noting that Boym also earned Academic All-Ivy. “It’s quite an accomplishment when you consider the length of the tennis season and the rigorous academics our players have at a school like Penn. We commend Jonathan, Justen and Zach for their achievement, as well; achieving a 3.5 or above for the year as a student athlete is no easy task. We hope that the rest of our players will follow their lead this coming season and we will place even more players on this list.

“We are, of course, striving to win the Ivy championship, but first and foremost we are students and so these accomplishments mean a lot to our program.”
