PHILADELPHIA – The Penn men’s tennis team departs for Chicago tomorrow, to face some of their toughest competition of the season. After winning the ECAC championships this September, the Quakers earned an automatic bidto the tournament, which will be held at the Midtown Tennis Center.
Penn is seeded No. 16 going into the tournament, and drew the top seed in the first round, No. 1 Georgia. The Bulldogs won the SEC championships this fall, are 3-0 in spring play so far this year, and are ranked No. 1 in the nation. The Quakers will look for the big upset as they take on the Bulldogs at noon on Friday, Feb. 16. Before the weekend is up, Penn will also take on two more opponents on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Quakers are looking to bounce back from a tough weekend in North Carolina. On Friday, Feb. 9, Penn lost to No. 12 Duke, 7-0. They followed that loss up with another shut out against N.C. State, losing 7-0. With the two losses, Penn fell to 1-4 so far this season.
