PHILADELPHIA - The Penn men's tennis team beat visiting Georgetown 7-0 on Wednesday night at the Levy Pavilion to remain unbeaten on the season.
The Quakers improved to 5-0 with the victory, while the win was the fourth time in five matches they allowed their opponents one or few points. The Red and Blue opened play by sweeping doubles for the fourth time this season.
Sophomores Eugen Brazdil and Phil Law were victorious at No. 1 doubles, winning 8-6. Seniors Justen Roth and Adam Schwartz won at No. 2, 8-4 against Will Lowell and Anthony Tan. The freshman twosome of Jason Magnes and Mark Milbrandt, finished the sweep with a 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, it was sophomores Jason Lin (No. 4) and Law (No. 3) who made quick work of the opposition. Lin won 6-3, 6-1, while Law gave up just two points to Tan, winning 6-0, 6-2. Brazdil was the next to finish as he took No. 1 singles 6-3, 7-5. At No. 2, Schwartz won the first set, 6-4, and dropped the second, 6-0, before rebounding to take control in the third, 6-3.
Roth won at No. 6 in straight sets, 7-5, 6-0, to make it 6-0. Magnes then withstood a late rally to finish with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 victory to end the match.
Penn takes its perfect mark into the weekend when it hosts Villanova and Delaware on Saturday at the Levy Pavilion. Play begins at 10 a.m.Doubles
