Men's Tennis Preps for Penn State & Illinois State

PHILADELPHIA – After a few tight contests to start the season, the University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team captured its first win this past weekend and prepares to keep the wins coming with two matches this weekend. The Quakers will play Penn State on Saturday at noon and will host Illinois State on Sunday at 10 a.m. Penn enters Saturday’s match with a 1-3 record, this spring.

Last weekend, the Red and Blue competed in the ECAC Division I Men’s Indoor Championship and tallied their first win of the spring on the second day. The Quakers went up against the fifth seed, Brown, and won their first doubles point this spring with victories from the duos in the No. 1 spot -- senior Nikola Kocovic and freshman Matt Nardella – and No. 2 spot – senior Zach Katz and freshman Marshall Sharp.

Nardella and Katz also won their singles matches, along with sophomore Vim De Alwis, which gave Penn the 4-3 decision over the Bears.
