PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania’s Albert G. Molloy Head Coach of Men’s Tennis, David Geatz, has announced the 2014 spring schedule. Penn is set to host nine home events -- four in the Levy Tennis Center and five outside at Hamlin Tennis Courts -- as the team will look to build upon its strong fall performance. The class of 2017 alone, comprised of three five-star recruits and one four-star, made a positive impact in the fall and enters the spring with a 34-19 record.
A recap of the entire fall schedule can be found here.
The Quakers will kick off the spring season when they host Buffalo on February 8 and then Marquette the following day. Penn will next compete at the ECAC Championships (2/15-17), followed by dual meets with Penn State (2/22) and Illinois State (2/23).
March opens with a home match against Big 5 rival Temple (3/9), before the team journeys to the West Coast for its annual spring break trip. The Red and Blue will compete with UC Santa Barbara (3/11), San Diego State (3/12), Cal Poly SLO (3/15), and UC Irvine (3/16). After returning from California, the Quakers will make a quick trip to Washington D.C. on March 22 to face Georgetown.
Penn returns home for a four-match homestand outdoors at the Hamlin Tennis Courts with one of the last nonconference matches of the season, against St. John’s on March 26. Princeton, a prelude to a month of Ivy play, follows on the 29th.
Brown and Yale will travel to Philadelphia on April 5 and 6, respectively, before the Quakers travel to Hanover and Boston the next weekend to compete with Dartmouth (4/12) and Harvard (4/13). The Red and Blue will return home one last time to host Columbia on April 18, before the last nonconference match against Binghamton (4/19). Penn closes out the season the next day in Ithaca against the Big Red.
Note: Matches will be played outside at the Hamlin Tennis Courts if weather permits.
