PHILADELPHIA – With nine matches split between the Levy Tennis Pavilion and Hamlin Tennis Courts in the spring, the University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team looks to rebound from last year’s injury plagued season and make a run for the Ivy League title.
2015 Spring Schedule
While the Quakers are set to host the City 6 Tournament on January 24 and a scrimmage with Princeton the following day, the spring season really kicks off on February 1 when the Red and Blue travel to State College for a dual meet with the Nittany Lions at 9 a.m.
Penn will see a quick three-match home stand, including meetings with Furman on February 6 and William & Mary on February 7. Both are set to begin at 3 p.m. in Levy. The Quakers will follow up the two weekend matches with a mid-week contest against NJIT at 4 p.m.
The Red and Blue will travel out to Idaho to compete in three matches over two days with Boise State, BYU, and Utah from February 27-March 1. Penn will return to Philadelphia for a home event with Radford on Saturday, March 7 only to hit the road once again, this time making a trip to the south for their annual Spring Break trip. The Quakers will spend seven days in New Mexico playing Georgia State, UNM, NMSU, and U.T. Arlington.
A week before opening Ivy play at Princeton, the Red and Blue will host a tri-meet with Claremont-Mudd-Scipps and Georgetown on Sunday, March 21. Ivy play will begin on the 28th with the Tigers, while the final non-conference matchup of the season will take place the next day against St. John’s in New York City.
Penn will remain on the road for the Yale and Brown meets on April 4-5, before playing three Ivy contests in a row at the Hamlin Tennis Courts against Harvard (April 11), Dartmouth (April 12), and Cornell (April 17). The Quakers will then close out their season with the reigning Ivy League champions, Columbia, in New York on April 19.
