Men's Tennis Set to Open Season on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA - The Penn men's tennis team will open its 2008 spring season on Saturday afternoon when it takes on the Drexel Dragons at Levy Pavilion at 1 pm.

Penn takes the court with a team featuring several returning stars from last year's Ivy League co-championship squad. Seniors Jason Pinsky and Brandon O'Gara and junior Jonathan Boym have been named team captains. Seniors Joseph Lok and Eric Riley will also provide leadership for the team, as well as junior Justin Fox.

The experienced faces on the team have been a welcome sight for first-year head coach Nik DeVore, who comes to Penn after six years as the head coach of Loyola-Marymount. After a solid fall schedule, DeVore and the team are ready to earn an outright Ivy League title this spring.

"We are excited to get started," DeVore said. "The guys are in good shape and eager to get out there and compete against another team. We are looking forward to going out and competing hard. We have to play well to come out on top in this match."

The Quakers will dive right into their schedule with four matches - starting with Drexel - in the first week of spring competition. Three of the four matches will be at Levy Pavilion.
