Men's Tennis Splits; Beats Nebraska, Falls to Furman

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Penn men's tennis team split its two matches Saturday at Florida State's Scott Speicher Tennis Center. The Quakers (2-2)fell to Furman, 5-2, in the day's opener beforeedging Nebraska, 4-3.

Against Furman, Penn gave up the doubles point before the Paladins dominated the lower flights in singles play to win. Mikhail Bekker won at No. 2 singles, defeating Andy Juc, 6-3, 6-2, while Jonathan Boym also won his match at No. 3 by a 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (1) scoreline. The pair also won Penn's lone doubles point with an 8-4 victory.

Against Nebraska, the Quakers won the doubles point with Boym and Bekker winning, 8-5, and Justin Fox and Brandon O'Gara winning 8-2. Penn then split the singles matches with the Cornhuskers, with Jason Pinsky winning at No. 1, Joseph Lok at No. 4, and Fox at No. 6 to secure the 5-4 victory.

Penn returns home next weekend for its final tune-up before the National Indoors in Seattle. The Quakers face Manhattan College on Saturday at 2 p.m. and St. Bonaventure on Sunday at 2 p.m.
