FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. - Freshman Jason Magnes took the Flight 5 singles title in straight sets at the USTA Collegiate Invitational on Sunday.
Magnes won the Flight 5 title in straight sets, taking out Marist's Hank Bessinger 6-0,6-3. In the Flight 1 final, Eugen Brazdil fell in a nail-biter 3-6,6-3,7-6 to #3 seed Jonathan Wong of Columbia.
Penn's third finalist, Jeffrey Karsh, lost a hard-fought match, 6-3,2-6, 6-3 to Columbia's John Yetimoglu.
Though Penn had three players in the finals at the Saint Joseph's Invitational, play was canceled on Sunday because of rain.
Head coach Nik DeVore was please with his team's play; "Our guys picked up a lot of great experience that will prove invaluable down the road."
Next up for the Quakers is the Columbia Invitational October 9-11.
