Men's Tennis Takes Part in UVA Fall Invitational

PHILADELPHIA - In first-round action at the University of Virginia’s Fall Invitational, the Penn men's tennis team had great success, as three of the four team members competing won to advance to the second round of play tomorrow.

In the Red Singles division, Mikhail Bekker of Penn came back from a loss in the first set to defeat Keziel Juneau from William and Mary, 1-6, 6-2, 6-3.

The Green Singles division had two Quakers taking part, Justin Fox and Jonathan Boym. Fox got a hard-fought win over Radford's Mehdi Benhammou, 3-6, 7-6 (1), 6-0. Boym -- the top seed in the bracket -- beat Bendict Fischer from Memphis, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.

And in the Orange Singles bracket, Jason Pinksy fell to Harvard's Chris Clayton, 6-3, 6-1.

Second-round action continues tomorrow, with the first matches starting at 10:45 a.m. The tournament concludes Sunday, with finals in all brackets.
