PHILADELPHIA – Now that the fall season is underway, it’s time for the University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team to host the 3rd Annual Penn Invitational this weekend on the Hamlin Tennis Courts located in Penn Park. The courts in the Levy Tennis Pavilion will also be utilized as 16 teams total will partake in the tournament. Action is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Friday morning with play continuing through Sunday.
The Red and Blue will look to its full roster to contribute in this year’s home fall tournament. Last year, the full roster participated and out of the 14 Quakers who played, six went 4-0 in their singles flights. Three of the doubles pairs also finished the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record.
“The Hamlin and Hecht Tennis Centers provide Penn with an opportunity to host great tennis events,” said Albert G. Molloy Head Coach of Men’s Tennis David Geatz. “It is always nice to play at home and hopefully we will pick up some wins over the weekend.”
Teams competing this year include Penn, Binghamton, Buffalo, Columbia, Cornell, Drexel, Georgetown, Lehigh, Minnesota, Monmouth, Penn State, Princeton, Saint Joe’s, St. John’s, Temple, Yale.
Results will be posted on PennAthletics.com after the completion of each day.
