PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team will send eight players to Yale University this weekend to compete in the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
The Quakers’ eight selections consist of six that earned direct berths into the main singles draw, and two that were chosen to the qualifying bracket. Vim De Alwis, Kyle Mautner, Blaine Willenborg, Nicholai Westergaard, Josh Pompan and Zach Lessen were each selected to the main draw, while Thomas Spratt and Austin Kaplan will begin in qualifying. Mautner, Pompan and Mautner all received seeds in the main draw, while Spratt and Kaplan will need to win a pair of matches to join their teammates.
The Quakers will also have three doubles squads in action over the weekend -- with the duos of De Alwis and Kaplan, Willenborg and Spratt, and Mautner and Westergaard all competing in the 64-team bracket.
This will be the third event for Penn this fall, as the Quakers have already competed at the Penn Invitational and the Ivy Plus Tournament.
