Men's Track and Field Compete in Day 1 of Wake Forest Open

Winston-Salem, N.C.— Penn men’s track and field notched several top-five finishes in Day 1 of the Wake Forest Open on Friday.

Luke Grau was Penn’s top finisher of the day, crossing the line fourth out of 89 competitors in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:43.47.

Larry Contrella finished fifth in the 10,000 meters at 31:17.97, with teammates Mike Lovejoy and Kevin Sullivan finishing sixth and seventh with times of 31:29.94 and 31:40.73, respectively.

Alejandro Shepard was the Quakers’ third top-five finisher of the day, clocked in at 9:25.53 to finish fifth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.

Willie Harris and Max Westman finished ninth (14.76) and tenth (14.79), respectively, to qualify for the 110 meter hurdles finals, while Darryl Oliver finished tenth in the 800 meter finals with a time of 1:54.09.
