Men's Track and Field Concludes Indoor Season at IC4A's

BOSTON, Mass. - There was just one member of the University of Pennsylvania men's track and field team that was scheduled to compete on day two of the IC4A Championships at Boston University in Boston, Mass., Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Luke Grau did not disappoint, posting a career-best time.

In what was the final meet of the indoor season for the Quakers, Grau bested his previous indoor personal record in the 5,000 meters by nearly 10 seconds. His time of 14:29.26 placed him 11th - just three spots from scoring in the 32-man field.

Grau's time also vaulted him up the rankings in the Penn record books.The Chardon, Ohio, native sat in ninth-place all-time in the 5,000 meters with his time of 14:38.26 at the 2009 Heptagonals. With his effort on Sunday, Grau is now fourth all-time in Quaker history in the event.

Penn had several other athletes compete at the postseason meet on day one, including two relay teams.

It won't be long until the team is back in action. The men open up the outdoor season in just two weeks at the Wake Forest Open in Winston-Salem, N. C. on March 20-21.
