Men's Track and Field Show Strong Performance in Great Dane Classic


NEW YORK, N.Y.--The Penn men notched several top five finishes en route to a solid finish at the Great Dane Classic on Friday.

Tim Kaijala notched the lone first place victory for the Quakers with his IC4A-qualifying time of 2:23.58 in the 1000m.

Bryan Scotland finished second in the one mile, and was just short of qualifying for IC4As with a time of 4:15.48.

Penn continued their strong distance performances in the distance medley, with the team of Robert Dugger, Ben McKean, Darryll Oliver and Brian Lang clocking in at 10:15.08 to qualify for IC4As and snag second place.

Joey Brown finished fourth and fifth in 200m and 55m runs, respectively. Brown crossed the finish line in 6.47 in the 55m and 22.31 in the 200m.

Christopher Baird finished third in the 3000m with a time of 8:38.26, while Luke Grau and Philip Cawkwell finished fifth and sixth, respectively.

In the relays, the Quakers 4x400 team of Andrew Anderson, Kevin Benjamin, Willie Harris and Sam Shepherd finished in fifth place at 3:20.19.

Penn will next compete at the St. Valentine's Classic, hosted by Boston University in Boston, Mass., Feb. 8-9.
