Men's Track and Field to Compete at The Armory this Weekend

Men's Indoor Postseason Qualifiers

PHILADELPHIA – One of the benefits included in being a part of the University of Pennsylvania men’s track and field team is the opportunity to annually compete at The Armory—one of the world’s most famous track and field centers. Penn will take part in the Great Dane Classic at the facility in New York, N.Y., on Friday.

Hosted by the University of Albany, the one day meet will be underway at noon. More than 40 men’s and women’s teams are expected to compete in the Great Dane Classic.

At the same meet last season, Penn placed second among 18 teams. The Quakers won one event title—senior Tim Kaijala set the facility record in the 1,000 meters (2:23.58). Also notable, senior Bryan Scotland finished second in the mile and sophomore Chris Baird was third in the 3,000 meters for the Quakers.

Penn will revisit The Armory later this season in one of the most competitive indoor track and field meets of the season—the New Balance Collegiate Invitational during the first weekend in February.

Complete results from the Great Dane Classic will be available on shortly after the conclusion of the meet.
