Men's Track and Field to Host Penn Invite Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – Just one week after placing second at the Navy Invite in Annapolis, the University of Pennsylvania men’s track and field team will be hosting their first home meet of the season on Saturday with the Penn Invite at Franklin Field.

The meet will begin at 9 a.m. with the javelin throw, followed by the hammer at 10:30 a.m. The track events start at 11 a.m. with the 3,000-meter steeplechase. The last race of the day, the 1,600-meter relay, is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

Penn will be hosting 40 men's and women's teams. This will be the first trip to Franklin Field for all competing teams this season as several Philadelphia area teams, including Temple, La Salle and Villanova will make the trip to 33rd Street. Navy, Army and Delaware; along with Ivy rivals Cornell, Harvard and Columbia will also make the trip to West Philadelphia.

The Quakers, who will be traveling to Princeton for a meet with Princeton, Rutgers, and Villanova next weekend, had seven individual titles at the Navy Invite last week. This included impressive performances by seniors Joey Brown and Max Westman, who each collected two individual wins. In addition, the 1,600-meter relay team took first and ran an IC4A qualifying time of 3:16.54.
