Meet Schedule

PHILADELPHIA - In its first outdoor meet of 2012, the University of Pennsylvania men's track and field team will host its city rivals in the second annual Philadelphia Big 5 Invitational at historic Franklin Field Saturday.

The field events in the Big 5 Invite begin at 10:30 a.m. with the hammer. They conclude at 3:15 p.m. with the pole vault. The track events begin with the 4x100-meter relay at 3:15 p.m., and end with the 4x400-meter relay at 6:55 p.m.

To wrap up the indoor season for the Quakers, Maalik Reynolds earned All-America honors for the second time in his career with his eighth place finish in the high jump at the NCAA Championships. The sophomore finished at 2.20 meters (7 feet, 2 1/2 inches) inside Jacksons Indoor Track at the Idaho Center in a suburb of Boise, Idaho.

Last year at the Big 5 Invite, Reynolds set the school record for the high jump at 2.21 meters (7 feet, 3 inches). He broke the mark of 2.20 meters (7-02.50 ft.) previously held by Adam Chubb since 2001. The 4x100-meter relay team started the day with a victory for the Red and Blue. The Quakers ran to a finish of 42.04 to claim the Big 5 title in the event. Jeff Seddon, Seck Barry, Mason Smith and Brian Lynch also posted victories for the Quakers on a cold Philadelphia afternoon.

The Big 5 Invite is the first of five meets at Franklin Field this season, including Penn Relays and the 2012 Outdoor Heps Championships.

A full recap of the meet will be available at PennAthletics.com shortly after the completion of the day's events.
