Men's Track Finishes Up at IC4As

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Penn men's track & field team finished 26th at the IC4A Championships, which took place this weekend at Princeton University's Weaver Stadium.

Penn's top individual finishes came in the 1,500 and the long jump. On the track,senior Tim Kaijala placed fourth overall in a time of 3:47.84 which was just .04 seconds shy of an NCAA regional qualifying time. In the pits, senior Kyle Calvo was fourth in the long jump with a top distance of 7.39 meters (24 feet, 3 inches), while Pete Habegger was 11th at 7.07 meters (23 feet, 2.5 inches).

In the decathlon, senior Mike Hall had three second-place finishes -- in the 110-meter hurdles, the pole vault, and the discus -- and placed sixth overall with 6,527 points.

In other field events, John Carelli finished seventh in the triple jump with a top distance of 14.94 meters (49 feet, 0.25 inches), and James Foreman placed 12th in the pole vault with a top height of 4.80 meters (15 feet, 9 inches).

Penn's other individual runners on the weekend were Alejandro Shepard (14th in the steeplechase, 9:11.58), Andrew Anderson (19th in the 400 prelims, 47.99 seconds) and Darryll Oliver (34th in the 800 prelims, 1:55.04). Penn also put teams in two of the relay events, finishing 11th in the 4x800 prelims in 7:39.19 and 21st in the 4x100 prelims in 42.81 seconds.

The Quakers scored 15 points in the event. Liberty was the team champion, with 62 points, while Virginia was second with 55 points.
