Men's Track Finishes Up at Sykes-Sabock Cup

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn men's track & field team completed action at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup Saturday; the event was hosted the last two days by Penn State.

The Quakers were led by Tim Kaijala, who beat the field in the 800 with the only NCAA provisional qualifying time in the race at 1:49.72. Bryan Scotland was fifth in the event, at 1:52.46, while Mike Stein was 18th in 1:56.66.

Darryll Oliver took third in the 600, clocking 1:20.44; he was followed by Kevin Kiley, who was 12th in 1:22.11, Max Westman who took 16th in 1:24.56, and Mike Hall who clocked 1:25.24 and placed 18th.

In the 200, Kevin Benjamin earned a top-10 finish with a time of 22.19 seconds, while Andrew Anderson was 10th in the 400-meter dash in 49.67 seconds. Anderson and Benjamin also led off Penn's 4x400 relay team, which took seventh overall in 3:17.64. Willie Harris and Sam Shepherd were the rest of the relay team. In the mile, Jeff Weinstein was 10th overall in 4:15.51.

Penn had two top-10 finishers in the 3,000, as Luke Grau was seventh in 8:31.74 and Chris Baird was 10th in 8:35.30.

In the field events, James Foreman tied for seventh in the pole vault (4.45 meters), and multi-event specialist Hall was 13th in the long jumpwith 6.55 meters.
