PHILADELPHIA – In what has become an annual occurrence, the University of Pennsylvania men’s fencing team sent two student-athletes to the November North American Cup this past weekend in Milwaukee, Wisc. Adam Green led the way with a 21st-place finish, while Julian Merchant finished 32nd—each competing in the Junior Saber division.
Following a 5-1 effort in pool play, Green picked up wins over Julian Richards (15-5) and Logan Kanary (15-12) before falling in a tight match to Christopher Walker (15-13).
Merchant, who went 4-2 in pool action, tallied victories over Edward Zhao (15-8) and Josef Cohen (15-11) before also losing in the Round of 32 to Daniel Kwak (15-10).
The Quakers will all be back together this weekend (Nov. 19-20), as they travel to Penn State for the Garrett Open.
