Meyer Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its weekly awards for men's lacrosse, and Penn freshman defender Maxx Meyer has been chosen as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week. This is his first time winning the honor, and he is the second player to be so honored this season (Brian Feeney was Ivy Rookie of the Week on Feb. 28).

Meyer received the weekly award after his performance in Penn's 8-3 win over Princeton on Saturday, the Quakers' first victory over the Tigers since 1989. Meyer had two caused turnovers and picked up four ground balls, and also scored his first collegiate goal late in the game. He was part of a defensive effort that held Princeton to its lowest goal total in an Ivy game since 2006 and its lowest total in the Penn-Princeton series since 1987.

Meyer and the rest of the Penn team are back in action Saturday at 1 p.m., facing Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y.
