PHILADELPHIA - Mike Beamish was a workhorse for Penn in its 16-13 win over Mansfield last week in sprint football, carrying the ball 26 times as the rushing attack provided a decisive possession edge for the Quakers. On Thursday, he was named CSFL Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts.
Beamish carried the ball 26 times for 123 yards in the game, averaging 4.7 yards-per-carry. 24 of his yards came on Penn's final drive of the game -- a 77-yard drive which set up the game-winning field goal for the Quakers.
Earlier in the game, Beamish hauled in his only reception of the night,a 15-yard catch which produced Penn's first touchdown of the game.
Through three weeks of play, Beamish leads the CSFL in rushing with 396 yards, averaging 132 yards-per-game and 5.3 yards-per-rush over his 75 carries.
Beamish and the Quakers are home on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. against CSFL-leading Army.
