PHILADELPHIA - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America teams in the sport of men's cross country/track & field earlier this week, and Penn senior Mike Hall was honored with third-team recognition.
Hall is one of just 45 athletes nationwide at the NCAA Division I level to be so honored. He had become eligible for Academic All-America consideration by being voted Academic All-District by CoSIDA members. In order to be eligible for these honors, a student-athlete must hold at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA, and be in his or her second year at the institution for which he/she competes.
Hall -- who is currently planning to attend Penn’s medical school -- finished second at the Heptagonal Championships in the decathlon earlier this spring, and was the male recipient of the University's Goldring Award as the senior male student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA.
