CLOVIS, Calif. - Two members of the University of Pennsylvania track and field team rounded out their 2015-16 seasons at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships in Clovis, Calif. over the weekend.
Freshmen Kevin Monogue and Imani Solan represented the Red and Blue on the national stage in both the 10,000 and 200 meters, respectively, competing on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday night, Monogue paced himself to a fifth place finish in 31:05.59 in the men’s 10,000 meter run. With 1,200 meters to go, the freshman harrier sat in third place before a kick to a finish on the bell lap. He crossed the line in fifth to conclude his freshman season.
Just a day later on Saturday, Solan competed in the prelims of the women’s 200 meter sprint and clocked a 24.40 for 12th place. Solan finished fifth in the third and final heat of the evening.
Both Quakers had terrific performances during their first year in Philadelphia. Solan became the school record holder in the indoor 200 meters and registered 12 top-10 finishes during the 2016 outdoor season. Monogue earned seven top-10 finishes during the indoor and outdoor seasons, competing in a variety of distance events ranging from the 1,500 up to the 10,000.
