PHILADELPHIA - University of Pennsylvania women’s cross country senior Ashley Montgomery and freshman Erin Feeney have been honored by HepsTrack.com as the women’s runner and rookie of the week, respectively, following their performances at the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University on Saturday.
Montgomery placed second overall in the women’s college gold race in a time of 20:12, averaging 5:25 mile pace across the six kilometer course. Prior to Saturday’s run, Montgomery had claimed two individual wins at the Big 5 Invitational and the Main Line Invitational to start the 2016 season.
Feeney earns the rookie of the week distinction with a 36th place showing at Paul Short where she clocked a time of 20:43 amid 5:33 average mile pace. She was the fourth scoring runner for the Quakers and has performed well so far in her first season with the Red and Blue, placing in the scoring top-5 for Penn in each of their first three meets.
The Quakers return to action on Friday, Oct. 14th for the Wisconsin Invitational. Racing is set to begin at 11 a.m.
