PHILADELPHIA – Juniors Ashley Montgomery and Cleo Whiting of the women’s cross country team were named All-Ivy League on Tuesday. The duo helped lead the Quakers to a fifth-place finish at last week’s Ivy Heptagonal Championships at Van Cortlandt Park.
Montgomery and Whiting were at the forefront of a Quakers’ team that finished 64 points better than a year ago at the Heps, and registered their best team finish since 2007.
Montgomery was named first-team All-Ivy following a fifth-place finish, while Whiting earned second-team honors after placing 13th. Montgomery clocked in at 21:19.9, en route to finishing 42 places better than a year ago. Whiting rounded the 6K course in a time of 21:45.7.
Penn will be back in action on November 13 for the NCAA Regionals at Princeton.
