PHILADELPHIA -- Senior attacker Nina Corcoran was named second-team Preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse, the highest-ranked Ivy League player according to ILWomen's 2016 Face-Off Yearbook listing of preseason All-Americans.
Joining Corcoran on the All-American list was Lely DeSimone, named honorable mention Preseason All-American at midfield.
Corcoran is coming off a 2015 season where she set a new Penn record for assists in a single season with 40 -- a number which ranks third-most all-time by any Ivy League player in a season.
Twice named second-team All-Region, Corcoran has been named first-team All-Ivy (2014) and second-team All-Ivy (2015) during her career. In 2015, she finished with 61 points, second on the team and fifth-most in a single season in school history.
She concluded her 2015 with an invite to the U.S. National Team Tryout Camp where she was joined by her teammate, DeSimone.
Lely DeSimone had a breakout 2015, earning second-team All-Region and second-team All-Ivy honors as one of the nation's top two-way midfielders. She finished the year with 30 goals -- second on the team -- and 33 points -- fourth-most on the team -- and her six game-winning goals were most by a Quaker. In addition, she had 19 ground balls.
Corcoran, DeSimone, and the Quakers open the 2016 season on February 20 against Delaware at Franklin Field at 12 p.m.
