Philadelphia The University of Pennsylvania wrapped up its third of three dual meets at The Palestra this afternoon with a 20-15 victory over Drexel. The No. 22 Quakers opened the day with a 23-18 loss to No. 7 Hofstra, but bounced back with a 54-0 sweep of Wagner.
Senior Mason Lenhard started things off for the Red and Blue (3-2) with a 14-4 major decision over the Dragons (6-7) Dan Stewart at 125.
At 133, senior Jeff Eveleth won his third match on the day with an exciting 7-5 sudden victory over Zach Makovsky. Trailing 5-3 with 21 seconds remaining, Eveleth took Makovsky down to tie the score and force sudden victory period. Eveleth controlled from the start and posted another takedown for the win.
The Quakers extended their lead to 10-0 at 141 as No. 12 Doug McGraw blanked Chris Renninger, 6-0.
After dropping the next two matches, senior Rich Ferguson provided excitement at 165 as he took Bill Haydt down with 10 seconds remaining to pull out the 6-4 victory.
At 174, junior Dustin Wiles won his second match of the day with a 3-2 decision over Nick Kozar to increase the Penn lead 16-6.
Rounding out the afternoon with a victory was senior Marcus Schontube who recorded a 10-2 major decision over Jon Oplinger.
The Quakers are back in action on Jan. 28 when they travel to Columbia followed by a trip to Cornell on Jan. 29.
