PHILADELPHIA – A weeknight matchup of highly-ranked Ivy opponents will have Ringe Courts buzzing Wednesday evening, when the third-ranked University of Pennsylvania women’s squash team hosts fourth-ranked Princeton at 6 p.m.
Penn (5-2, 1-1 Ivy) will be looking for back-to-back wins against the Tigers (5-1, 1-1 Ivy), after defeating them in Howe Cup competition 7-2, last February. Princeton defeated the Quakers in the regular-season matchup, 9-0.
The Red and Blue trail the overall series with Princeton (8-42), but have won four of the last six meetings between the schools.
Penn is coming off a 9-0 victory over Drexel, in which the Quakers did not drop a single individual match. The win came on the heels of two tough road losses for Penn against No. 1 Harvard and No. 2 Trinity (Conn.), losing both matches, 6-3.
The Quakers have been led by co-captains Courtney Jones (6-1) and Chloe Blacker (4-0), along with freshman Michelle Wong (6-0).
Princeton has split its last two matches, both against Ivies, losing to No. 1 Harvard 6-3 and defeating Dartmouth, 9-0.
