No. 51 Men's Tennis Hosts Midweek Match with NJIT

PHILADELPHIA – Coming off a pair of successes this past weekend, the University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team will be looking for its sixth consecutive win of the season on Wednesday, when the No. 51 Quakers host NJIT in the Hecht Tennis Center at 4 p.m. The midweek matchup will be the third home contest for the Red and Blue in less than a week and will be the last one until March.

Last Time on the Court
Penn extended its spring record to 5-0 when the Quakers collected two dual wins over the weekend, after defeating Furman Friday and William & Mary on Saturday by an identical score of 5-2. How the Red and Blue reached five points in each match was different, however. Against the Paladins, Penn dropped the doubles point but bounced back with consecutive singles match wins for the victory. The next day, the doubles point and four points from the top four singles flights provided an automatic win over the Tribe. Freshman Nicolas Podesta remains as the only Quaker with an undefeated singles record.

NJIT (4-0)
The Highlanders are on a streak of their own, having won the first four dual matches of the spring. NJIT blanked its first two opponents, Fairfield and Fairleigh Dickinson, 7-0 and followed those performances up with two 6-1 wins over Sacred Heart and Saint Peter’s.

The Series with NJIT
Wednesday’s contest will mark the first time in program history that these two teams have met on the court in a spring dual.
