At the Eastern Sprints last year, Penn was fourth in their heat, finishing eighth overall with a time of 5:58.33. In the Varsity 8 Petite final, the Quakers placed second to Columbia. Penn finished in a time of 6:14.05, besting both Dartmouth and M.I.T. on their way to runner-up status.

Last time out, on Senior Day, the Red and Blue crew raced against Navy and Saint Joseph’s in the Callow Cup on the Schuylkill River. The Midshipmen took an early lead over the two teams, but the Quakers closed the gap down the stretch. In the end, however, Penn came up a bit short and finished two seconds behind Navy’s time of 5:52.5.
