No. 8 Women's Fencing Finishes 2-1 At Penn State Duals

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Quakers fell victim to Penn State but won their other two matches handily at the Penn State Duals on Saturday.

Penn fell to the top ranked Nittany Lions by a 20-7 margin in the first match of the afternoon. The Red and Blue were unable to capture any weapons, losing 8-1, 6-3, 6-3 in epee, sabre and foil respectively.

The Quakers came back to silence Haverford 27-0, as each weapon won by a 9-0 margin. Penn also took care of Drew by a 23-4 score. Epee fencers recorded an 8-1 mark, while sabre matched them 8-1. Foil won as well, taking the victory 7-2.

Junior captain Danielle Kamis showed why she is an All-Ivy fencer, going 7-2 in sabre on the afternoon. Sophomore Laura Paragano had a team-high eight wins, including a 2-1 mark against Penn State

Freshman Amrit Bhinder was the solo epee to defeat Penn State, and finished with a 3-2 record on the day, while sophomore Alexandra Kozyra was 4-0.Junior Diana Ark also performed well, going 5-0 in epee.

The Quakers improve to 6-1 on the year and return to action next Saturday, January 30, when they take part in the New England Invitational, held at Brandeis University.
