PHILADELPHIA - The Quakers embark on their second road trip in as many weeks when they go east to take part in the Brandeis/MIT Invitational on Saturday.
Penn is coming off a 2-1 performance at the Penn State Duals last weekend. The Red and Blue beat Haverford and Drew last weekend but fell to defending national champion Penn State 20-7. Danielle Kamis went 7-2 in sabre while Laura Paragano won a team-high eight matches in foil. The 2-1 mark last Saturday improved the Quakers' record to 6-3 on the year.
This weekend the Quakers have five matches scheduled, taking on Brandeis, Boston College, MIT, NYU and Tufts. Brandeis is 13-5 on the season and has won its last seven matches, including a 14-13 victory over Ivy foe Brown. Boston College went 3-3 last weekend with victories over MIT, Smith and Dartmouth, but came up short against Brandeis, Brown and Vassar.
MIT enters the weekend 9-8 having won four of its previous five matches. The Engineers only loss during that span was a 16-11 decision at the hands of Brown. NYU is 4-10 on the season having lost five of their last six matches, though all five losses have come to teams ranked in the top ten. Tufts, meanwhile, has lost three of their last four, including defeats at the hands of MIT, Brown and Vassar last weekend.
