PHILADELPHIA – Fresh off a pair of double-doubles over the weekend, Michelle Nwokedi of the University of Pennsylvania women’s basketball team was named Ivy League Co-Player of the Week on Monday. In the final batch of weekly awards, Nwokedi picks her third of the season. Add in four from Sydney Stipanovich, and the Quakers wrap up of the year with seven Ivy honors.
On a weekend in which the Quakers needed a pair of wins, Nwokedi came up with some of her best basketball of the season. The sophomore was dominant in triumphs over Dartmouth and Harvard, averaging 17.5 points, 12 rebounds the three blocks per contest. She was especially excellent versus the Big Green on Friday night, going for 17 points, 10 rebounds, six blocks, and a pair of assists.
Nwokedi picked up her eighth and ninth double-doubles of the season, upping her career total to 17. For the season, she is now averaging 14.1 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game
Nwokedi and the Quakers will be back in action tomorrow night at 5:30 p.m. at Princeton. With both teams coming in at 12-1 in the conference, the winner of Tuesday night’s contest will win the Ivy title and earn a berth into the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
