Penn Athletics Winter Preview Show to Air on Philly Comcast Channels

PHILADELPHIA – With more than 900 varsity student-athletes and 33 varsity programs, there are many amazing stories which weave the fabric of Athletics at the University of Pennsylvania. During the 2016-17 seasons, those stories will come to life on Philadelphia’s Comcast family of networks via seasonal Penn Athletics Previews Shows produced by the Penn Sports Network.

At the beginning of each sports season, the Penn Sports Network will bring viewers inside the Red and Blue with insight into the values that make Penn Athletics a destination for the best and brightest student-athletes from around the world.

Starting later this week, we take a look at how Community Matters for Penn's winter varsity programs. This installment of the Penn Athletics Preview Show will lead fans on a journey alongside some of the greatest community builders who lay the foundation of Quaker Nation.

• A Tribute to 90 Years of The Palestra - As the "Cathedral of College Basketball" turns 90 years old, longtime Palestra employee Dan Harrell talks about what makes The Palestra better with age…

• Penn Basketball visits a West Philadelphia elementary school to teach students about aiming big and reaching their goals. Both teams spoke to how important giving back to the community is a part of their team culture. 

• If you've been to a Penn Wrestling match over the past decade, you've seen a member of the Bethea family competing. Five young men who have attended Penn ... Four who have wrestled. Junior May Bethea is the last of those four.

• "My long-term goal is to shift the culture here." - Emily Paterson from Penn Gymnastics is active in advocating VPUL’s Sleep Well program.

Silverstein Wellness Center Feature – The first of its kind in the Ivy League, we talk about how the Center came to be and its goals in serving Penn's student-athletes.
