Final Days of Penn Champions Club's Red & Blue Challenge!

PHILADELPHIA - On Tuesday, Nov. 29 the Penn Champions Club launched the Red & Blue Challenge, a competitive fundraising effort focusing on the generation of new and increased support for each of Penn’s 33 varsity athletic programs. All gifts made during this challenge will have a direct impact on Penn student-athletes as they aim to excel in the classroom, in the community and in competition.

Since the launch of the Red & Blue Challenge, each varsity team has been competing in two categories: the highest percentage of new and increased donors and the highest percentage of dollars raised towards each team’s annual fundraising goal. The first-place team in each category on Tuesday, Jan. 31 will receive an award of $2,500 towards their varsity annual fundraising goal.

The Penn Champions Club would like to thank the many alumni, family members and fans of Penn Athletics that have generously supported the Red & Blue Challenge so far.  Currently, Soccer and Sprint Football are leading in Competition Categories 1 and 2 respectively, followed closely by Swimming & Diving, Lightweight Rowing, Track/Cross Country and Football.  Complete team rankings can be found by visiting

“Annual fundraising is a large part of Penn Athletics’ operation, and we are excited to provide a platform on which the entire community can unite to support our student-athletes,” noted Dr. Scarlett K. Schneider, Executive Director of the Penn Champions Club.

Annual support to each program helps provide resources for over 900 student-athletes as they pursue a world-class education and compete at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics. Examples of how annual support has been used in the past include the implementation of new training technology, additional professional development programming, upgraded equipment, and enhanced team travel opportunities.
