PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania men's and women's soccer teams were both honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for their success in the classroom during the 2015-16 school year with Team Academic Awards.
With both programs earning accolades, Penn is one of 222 schools across all divisions of collegiate soccer to have both it's men's and women's squads recognized.
This marks the 16th-straight year both programs have garnered the Team Academic Award. For the men, that is the longest active streak among any Division I program and the third-longest of any division. On the women's side, Penn's streak is the longest of any Ivy League program.
To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA, then dividing by the number of players.
