Lee is hit with a Cusick pitch that got away. Runners on the corners, two out. Cusick goes back to what he does best, striking batters out. He gets Malt to fan swinging to strand the runners. Penn 7, Georgetown 3.

Top Six – Lorenzo starts things off with a single right back up the middle past the pitcher and shortstop. Williams with a high flyball to center that is reeled in by Lee for the first out. Maas hits the all hard, but right on a line to Godefroi in left, two out.

Davis lines out to left as well for the third out. Penn 7, Georgetown 3.

Bottom Fifth – Tough play for Gable. He dives to his left and makes a play in short right. He has time to get Malt, but he rushes the throw a bit and it sails over Gordon’s head. Malt reaches on an E4. Fernandez follows with a single through the right side and the Hoyas have two on with no out.

Lamont lines out to center No advancement for the runners. Cusick’s 2-2 pitch sails high and the runners advance. Second and third with one out… The wild pitchcomes back to haunt Cusick as Capeless grounds into what could have been an inning-ending double play. Instead, Gable gets the one out at first and Malt scores. Penn 7, Georgetown 2.

Baumann singles to center, scoring Fernandez. Penn 7, Georgetown 3.

CELLUCCI ENDS THE INNING BY THROWING BAUMANN OUT AT SECOND, CAUGHT STEALING 2-6. Penn 7, Georgetown 3.

Top Fifth – Gordon leads off with a ground out to short. Lentz picked it up on the run and fired to first for a nice play. Vigoa bounds a two-hopper to Lamont at third for the second out. Cellucci walks to reach for the second time in the game.

Gable with a double to right. He hit a trailing liner that eluded a diving Ravnaas. Cellucci had his motor on and was thinking about scoring, but third-base coach Yurkow held him up at the last minute. Probably a good idea with the relay already coming in. Would have been a real close play at the plate.

Thomas gets called out on strikes on a third strike that was right on the edge. Thomas thought it was outside, but the ump’s call was final. Penn strands two and doesn’t add to the lead. Penn 7, Georgetown 1.

Bottom Fourth – Inning starts with a foul pop-up from Capeless to Gordon at first. A soft liner to second retires Baumann. Godefroi walks on a high, 3-2 fatsball.

Lentz singles to right, runners on first and second with two outs. Both runners advance when Cusick’s pickoff attempt at second missed the glove and sailed into center. One pitch later, Ravnaas walks to load the bases.

On a 2-2 count, Cusick gets Lee to ground right at Williams at third, who touches the base for the force out to end the inning. The Hoyas leave the bases loaded. Penn 7, Georgetown 1.

Top Fourth – Thomas flies out to center for the second time today – this time shading to left – for the first out of the inning. Lorenzo goes back up the middle, but a nice play from Lent, ranging to his left, gets him at first. Two outs.

Williams singles to left with a sharp line drive. The hot-hitting Maas is up.

And as things tend to go when you are on a roll, Maas’ tough grounder to short is mishandled by Lentz. Two runners on for Davis, who grounds into a fielder’s choice, Maas out SS to 2B. Penn 7, Georgetown 1.

Bottom Third – Lee doubles to right-center to start the inning. Malt grounds out to Vigoa, no advancement for Lee. Fernandez flies to left, with Lee tagging on the play. He arrives safely, not sliding as his foot goes under the tag of Williams.

Excellent play by Gable at second, going to his right with a backhanded pickup of Lamont’s grounder. Gable on to first for the final out of the inning, stranding Lee at third. Penn 7, Georgetown 1.

Top Third – Maas with an interesting at-bat … first he lines a foul ball over coach John Yurkow’s head at third…then he checks his swing at a high pitch and ends up with a single when the ball rolls up the third-base line. The 3B tried to make a play, but it was too late.

Davis flies out to deep center for the first out. Maas to third when a pickoff attempt from Kirby sails into foul territory. Runner 90 feet away from Gordon…

BoBo walks…and the fourth ball is a wild pitch that gets all the way to the backstop. Maas scampers in from third. Penn 5, Georgetown 1.

Coach Cole dials up some strategy with a hit-and-run from Vigoa. The freshman connects with a single up the middle and Penn has runners at the corners with one out.

Georgetown tries a pitch-out…nothing doing.

With the count at 2-0, Kirby’s third pitch is missed by Fernandez, getting to the backstop. Gordon scores from third on the passed ball and Vigoa to second. Penn 6, Georgetown 1.

Cellucci pops to short for the second out. A second wild pitch in the inning from Kirby moves Vigoa to third for Gable…and the third scores Vigoa. Penn 7, Georgetown 1.

That is all for Kirby, as he leaves mid-batter. In comes Tommy Issacs who will enter with a 2-1 count on Gable.

Gable grounds out to third to end the inning.

Bottom Second – Capeless works a walk to start the inning. Baumann strikes out swinging, fouling into the catcher’s mitt. Capless to second on a wild pitch…tough breaking pitch in the dirt for Jeff to handle. Godefroi grounds out to Gordon at first, Capeless to third with two out. He scores when lentz reaches out and slaps a double down the right-field line. Penn 4, Georgetown 1.

Cusick escapes the jam by inducing a groundout from Ravnaas, second to first. Penn 4, Georgetown 1.

Top Second – Vigoa lines a fatsball down the left-field line for a double to start things off. Cellucci follows with a line shot through the gap in left for a two-bagger of his own, scoring Vigoa. Penn 3, Georgetown 0.

Gable sac bunts Cellucci over to third, almost reaching on a well-placed bunt. Runner at third with one out.

Thomas with a good AB, working the count full and then going back up the box with a bouncing single to center to score Cellucci. Penn 4, Georgetown 0.

Thomas picked off first…two outs and bases empty for ‘Zo.

Lorenzo singles to right-center. The pickoff looms large as Thomas would have been on second after a wild pitch and had a chance to score on the base hit.

High pop-up to short from Williams ends the inning Penn 4, Georgetown 0.

Bottom First – Cusick strikes Lee out swinging to start the inning. Malt grounds out, with the ball deflecting off Cusick’s glove right to Gable. Cusick then hits Fernandez with an inside fastball, bringing up Lamont… Penn’s nemesis.

Cuscik gets Lamont to strike out swinging to end the inning. Nice slider from Cusick on the final strike… Penn 2, Georgetown 0.

Top First – Thomas flies out to center to start the game. Sun is bright here today, might be tough on high flyballs. Lorenzo walks for the first baserunner of the day. Let’s see if Penn plays the speed game here early…

And Lorenzo is off….in safely at second. Penn with a runner in scoring position. Williams singles a grounder back up the middle to center. Lorenzo comes around from second to score and Penn is on the board. Williams to second when the centerfielder bobbles the ball. Penn 1, Georgetown 0.

Maas works a full-count walk and there are two ducks on the pond for Davis. He had a breakout game on Wednesday with his first three hits of the season, let’s see if that continues…

Davis hits a hard grounder to second. Malt flips to second for the first out but Lentz’ relay to first sails wide, allowing Williams to score. Davis to second. Gordon follows with a tough-luck out to third. Great diving play from Lamont to stab the ball and fire to first in time for the third out. Penn 2, Georgetown 0.

Penn and Georgetown are in game six of their epic spring series, with the Quakers holding a 3-2 advantage over the Hoyas. Georgetown won the most recent meeting, a 15-7 decision on Tuesday.

The Quakers had the day off yesterday from games, but still worked out in the morning. I took the opportunity to head over to Universal Studios in Orlando for a day at the theme park. After eight hours at the park, here are my top-five rides at Universal and its partner, Islands of Adventure:

The Mummy – Impressive combo of high-speed drops and in-the-dark surprises. Got on it twice (three times if you count the first time when the ride stuck and we all had to be helped off…), the second time running into Todd Roth and Matt Holtshouser.Spider-Man – Can’t beat a 3-D speed ride. The fact that you feel like you are dropping so far and fast without moving too much is a compliment to the ride design. Also, feeling like Spidey is actually landing on your vehicle is a neat feature. Also got a two-time visit.Jurassic Park – One of my favorite movies is also one of my favorite rides. The 70-foot drop at the end brings you out of your seat. The Simpsons – New ride, replacing Back to The Future. Similar in nature as it is a simulator ride. The ride makes you feel like you are on at an amusement park gone awry. Great effects, great jokes from Homer, Bart and the gang. Holtshouser was a big fan. The third of my double-ups on the day.Jaws – An old favorite. The big shark surprises you a few times on this one. Also, credit to the boat captain who brings you into the scenario.

BONUS FAVRORITE – As a huge fan of the ancient Greek mythology, I recommend Poseidon’s Fury. The show brings you into Poseidon’s temple and features quite a display of water and fire. Plus, it is inside so it is a good chance to cool off on a hot day.

In other news, Tom Grandieri and Todd Roth both claim they won the mini-golf the other night and neither will budge from their claim. I keep asking for the scorecards and keep getting the brush off… Adrian Thomas is also laying claim to the title and says his dad was also in the running. Maybe a little father-son scam going on there? First guy to show me a scorecard gets the credit officially.

We are about 35 minutes away from first pitch and the Quakers are out taking infield and outfield. Back in a few with the start of the game.
