Philadelphia - Karen Habrukowich nailed her fourth trey of the night with eight seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime but Yale outscored Penn 13-3 in the extra frame to defeat the Quakers, 74-64, in overtime at The Palestra.
Much like the night before, Penn (12-10, 5-4 Ivy) held a second-half lead and its opponent went on a subsequent run to take the lead, eventually prevailing in overtime. The Quakers took a 48-39 lead at the 7:43 mark on a Joey Rhoads three-pointer. Rhoads led the Red and Blue with 16 points in her second start of the season. Yale (5-18, 2-8 Ivy) rattled 16 of the next 19 points over the next five minutes, 50 seconds to take a 55-51 lead with 1:53 remaining in regulation. Habrukowich, who finished with 14 points, hit a trey to make the score 57-54 with 58 seconds remaining in the second half and put the game-tying trifecta through the bottom of the net with eight ticks left. Yale outscored Penn 13-3 in the extra frame to earn its first win over the Quakers in four contests.
The Bulldogs took the late lead thanks in part to eight points from EricaDavis, who led Yale with 23 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks, and Morgan Richards, who also finished in double digits with 17 points.
Four Quakers ended the game with double digits in the scoring column as Monica Naltner finished with 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting and Jennifer Fleischer added 10 points. Maria DiDonato played a career-high 35 minutes, adding five points and six rebounds.
Penn have a short respite before Princeton comes to The Palestra on Feb. 22. The game, which will air live on XPN - 88.5 FM, tips off at 7 p.m.
