Penn-Brown Featured as National Game of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Penn football is back in the national spotlight as the Ivy League National Game of the Week. The University of Pennsylvania football team will attempt to preserve its perfect Ivy League record on national television, as the Quakers battle Ancient Eight co-leader Brown University on the VERSUS Network. The Nov. 1 contest will kickoff at noon ET, and takes on added importance as Penn’s annual homecoming game.

The Penn-Brown matchup is the third of five Ivy League football games to be televised on VERSUS this year, as part of The Ivy League Game of the Week, Presented by TIAA-CREF package. Penn’s appearance on VERSUS comes on the heels of the Quakers’ victory over Yale last weekend on the YES Network, and will precede yet another national showing against Princeton Nov. 7 on ESPNU.

This will be the 77th meeting between Penn and Brown and only twice before have they met with unbeaten Ivy League records. On both occasions—1984 and 1986—Penn went on to win the game and the Ivy League title.

Rich Ackerman will call the play-by-play on VERSUS with Dale Hellestrae providing the analysis and Bob Harwood roaming the sidelines. Ted Robinson and Roland Williams host VERSUS College Football Central and The Craftsman Halftime Report from the network’s HD studio in Stamford, Conn.
