Penn Faces Widener in Annual Scrimmage

Philadelphia – The University of Pennsylvania football team faced off against Widener University this afternoon in its annual pre-season scrimmage.

The Quaker passing game was in good shape, with three touchdowns coming from sophomore quarterback Bryan Walker. The afternoon was highlighted by his second touchdown throw, a spectacular one-handed mid-air grab by junior Joe Sandberg, and junior Dan McDonald and senior Nick Okoro also caught touchdowns from Walker. Junior quarterback Pat McDermott connected with junior Billy May on a touchdown completion early in the second quarter, as well. Senior running back Kyle Ambrogi and junior running back Von Bryant carried the bulk of the load on the ground for the Quakers, with each finding the end zone once.

Penn will open the season on Sept. 17 when it hosts Duquesne at 3:30 p.m. at Franklin Field.
