Penn Falls to Harvard, 6-3, On First Day of Team Championships

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The University of Pennsylvania men's squash team won two of the first three matches, but ultimately fell to Harvard, 6-3, on the first day of the College Squash Association Team Championships hosted by Princeton University.

The fifth-seeded Quakers will now move into the consolation bracket, where they will face Dartmouth Saturday at 3 p.m. at Princeton's Jadwin Gym. Harvard moves on to face top-seeded Trinity.

It was deja vu for the Quakers, who had faced the Crimson just last Saturday and lost by an identical score. This time, however, the line-ups were different, and Pennrelied onwins from the bottom half of the ladder.

"We were a little weak with Graham Bassett not playing, and they were a little stronger," said Head Coach Craig Thorpe-Clark.

The match highlight was undoubtedly freshman Andrew Zimmerman's dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Garnett Booth. Down 2-0, Zimmerman rallied for a 1-9, 4-9, 9-5, 9-4, 9-6 victory. Jacob Himmelrich continued his recent hot streak playing a spot up at No. 6, winning 3-0, while Parker Justi was a winner at No. 9 by a 3-0 score.

Penn will continue the Team Championships tomorrow and Sunday at Princeton.
