PHILADELPHIA--Penn dropped to Temple, 68-49,Friday at The Palestra. Joey Rhoads led the Quakers with 15 points. Penn fell to 4-5 while Temple improved to 8-4 and remain undefeated in the Big 5.
Penn held a three-point lead early in the first half and kept close to Temple after conceding the lead at the midway point. The Quakers knotted the score twice before heading to the locker room down by six.
The second half saw the Owls pull away into a double-digit lead behind 11 points from the Big 5 Player of the Week, Kamesha Hairston, and nine from Lady Comfort who fouled out late in the game. Hairston led all scorers with 25 points on the night while Comfort had 11.
Rhoads led the Quakers with 15 points. Monica Naltner and Kelly Scott chipped in nine each while sophomore Maggie Burgess led on the glass with five rebounds.
The Quakers will play one more game in 2006 calendar year traveling to Baltimore, Md., Dec. 31 to play Loyola (Md.) at 1 p.m.
