Philadelphia - The University of Pennsylvania football team is announcing the hiring of Kevin Huckel. Huckel joins the Red and Blue staff as the assistant director of football operations and will assist with day-to-day management of practices, coordinate travel and accommodations for the team and file and disseminate online questionnaires from prospective Penn student-athletes.
Huckel comes to Penn after finishing his undergraduate work at Temple University where he earned a bachelor’s in broadcasting, telecommunications and mass media and minored in journalism. While at Temple, Huckel held the position of building supervisor at the Temple University Student Pavilion (2001-04) and served as the equipment manager (2000-04) as well.
In addition to Huckel’s experience within the scope of a football team, he also served as an intern at FOX Television from January to April of 2003, logging events, creating highlight tapes and working on location.
Penn finished the 2003 season as the only undefeated team in I-A or I-AA with a 10-0 overall record and a 7-0 Ivy League mark. The Red and Blue ended the campaign ranked 12th in I-AA after becoming the first team in 10 years to capture back-to-back Ancient Eight crowns as well as just the second team in League history to post back-to-back perfect Ivy seasons. The Quakers will begin defense of their 13th Ivy League banner on the West Coast at the University San Diego on Sept. 18.
