Penn Men's Swimming Fall at Columbia, 174-124

Final Results

New York City - The Penn men's swimming and diving team fell to Columbia, 174-124, at the Percy Uris Natatoriam on Friday night. Pat Maloney and Yuchi Zhang earned event victories in the loss.

A Quaker(1-3, 0-3) touched the timing pad first in two individual events and one relay event. Pat Maloney was victorious in the 200-yard IM, finishing with a time of 1:58.96 and earning nine team points. The Red and Blue finished one-two in the event as freshman Yuchi Zhang touched next in a time of 2:01.28.

Zhang earned an event win in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing in 2:07.53. Teammate Jon Kaufman came in fourth with a time of 2:11.88. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Devon Carr, Pat Gallagher, Kevin Scott and Timmy Howett bested the Penn 'B' team of Stephen Heyer, Dave Bohman, Brian Gartner and Cris Perez by four seconds, winning the event with a time of 1:24.90. Tyler Markman captured the 3-meter diving event with a score of 272.10, earning nine points for the Quakers.

Penn will not compete the remainder of 2004, traveling to Miami, Fla. for the Florida International Invitational on Jan. 2, 2005.
