Penn Names Brendan Gallagher Assistant Swim Coach

PHILADELPHIA – Mike Schnur, the head coach of men’s and women’s swimming and at the University of Pennsylvania has announced the hiring of Brendan Gallagher as assistant coach.

Gallagher is a 2004 graduate of The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). Last year he served as an assistant coach for the Lions. Gallagher completed his undergraduate degree in English and secondary education.

During Gallagher’s tenure at TCNJ, he was a four-year NCAA qualifier and earned nine All-America awards as a sprint and butterfly specialist. He helped the Lions to three Metropolitan Conference championships and an eighth-place finish at the 2003 NCAA Division III Championships – the highest-ever finish for the program.As a two-year team captain, Gallagher set a good example in both determination and leadership.

Gallagher continued his collegiate swimming and water polo career at the University of Limerick in Ireland in the fall of 2003, competing in national and international competitions and swimming in the Irish National Championships in Dublin during the summer of 2004.
