Penn Picked 13th By Inside Lacrosse's Face-Off Yearbook

PHILADELPHIA - Inside Lacrosse has released the Face-Off Yearbook Top 25 Pre-Season Rankings for the 2007 men's college lacrosse season, and the University of Pennsylvania is picked 13th.

Under fifth-year-head coach Brian Voelker, the Quakers return four starters and 19 letterwinners from a squad that went 10-4 in 2006 and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Championship. Penn’s 10 wins marked a program high since 1988, and the Quakers’ 4-2 Ivy League record was the best since 1989.

A quick check of the preseason poll shows that the Quakers will face a tough schedule in 2007 -- no fewer than seven of Penn’s 13 games will come against teams in the poll, four from the Ivy League (No. 4 Princeton, No. 8 Cornell, No. 22 Dartmouth, No. 23 Harvard) and three out of the conference (No. 7 Maryland, No. 14 Denver, No. 18 UMBC).

Defending national champion Virginia earns the Face-Off Yearbook’s top ranking, followed by 2005 NCAA champion Johns Hopkins. NCAA semifinalist Syracuse is third, with Princeton and Georgetown rounding out the top five. Two ACC teams, Duke and Maryland, are sixth and seventh, followed by Cornell and Navy. 2006 NCAA runner-up Massachusetts is 10th.

Face-Off Yearbook, the most referenced preview guide for men's college lacrosse, will be released at the IMLCA Clinic in Baltimore.
